During the semester, the Department ofTeaching German as a Foreign Language provides German courses for exchange students, doctoral students and visiting academics. Members of staff at the University of Greifswald may take part in all German courses that are provided during the semester, as long as there are vacant places.
Minimum number of participants: 10 participants
Location: Ernst-Lohmeyer-Platz 3, Rooms 1.04 and 2.04
ECTS credits: 3 ECTS credits (regular attendance and passing the exam are prerequisites for the allocation of credits)

During your period of study or work at the University of Greifswald, you can take part in different courses. At the end of the semester, you will receive a certificate that is recognised by all departments at the University of Greifswald.
The courses take place from 14th April 2020 to 10th July 2020
General German language courses are provided for three different levels:
- Beginners A2 (4 hours per week)
- Intermediate B1 (3 hours per week)
- Intermediate B2 (3 hours per week)
- Advanced C1 (3 hours per week)
Specialised language course: methods for working scientifically, level B2/C1 (3 hours per week)
This course deals with different topics concerning methods for working scientifically at the university. This follow-on course focuses on the reading and writing skills of academic texts. You will get to know strategies for reading and understanding academic texts, different ways to quote and how to write bibliographies, and you will practice typical structures of academic language (passive constructions, nominal style, participle constructions, commonly used connectors, etc.)
