The Wolfgang Koeppen Archive (WKA) preserves the estate of writer Wolfgang Koeppen (1906 to 1996), including manuscripts, personal documents, letters, pictures and his private library. Alongside the published texts, the oeuvre of the essayist, romantic novelist and travel writer includes numerous sketches, variants and fragments that provide a glimpse into Koeppen's literary atelier.

The primary task of the archive is to promote the academic analysis of the life, work and reception of Wolfgang Koeppen. The Wolfgang Koeppen Archive supports national and international research projects as well as exhibition projects and is contributing toward the new edition of ‘Werke in 16 Bänden’ by Suhrkamp Verlag.

A workstation and a small reference library are available for on-site research. Guided tours of the current exhibition in the ‘’Münchner Zimmer‘’ and a visit to Koeppen's library are possible following prior arrangement.

The current exhibition of the Wolfgang Koeppen Archive can be viewed in the Münchner Zimmer in the gallery of the Koeppenhaus. [de]

'His post-war novels Tauben im Gras, Das Treibhaus and Der Tod in Rom made Wolfgang Koeppen a leading name of West German literature, his unwritten and unfinished works the greatest myth.
