DSH Exam and DSH Courses
The Department of Teaching German as a Foreign Language is accredited by the German Rectors’ Conference and the subject association for the Teaching of German as a Foreign Language; and our certificate is recognised by all of Germany’s tertiary education institutions. We provide the DSH examination four times a year. In addition, we provide two intermediate and advanced DSH courses each semester.

Exam Structure
Please note that the exam contains a written and an oral part.They take place on different days and at different locations.

Exam Fee
- DSH exam: € 150 for participants of the DSH courses and € 250 for external participants
Information for external participants (taking part in the DSH exam without previously attending the DSH course):
Under certain circumstances you can take part in the DSH exam without previously attendingthe DSH language course. In this case please contact the International Office (bew_infouni-greifswaldde)
Minimum number of participants: 10 participants

- Fee: € 350 per semester
Course Content
1. Intermediate Course (1st Semester)
Mon.-Fri. from 8.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. (25 units à 45 mins per week)
- teaching and practicing grammar
- strategies for understanding lectures and taking notes
- strategies for working with universal and academic texts
- oral and written communication skills
- conversation classes and vocabulary learning
- introduction to the structures and usage of academic language
2. Advanced Course (2nd Semester)
Mon.-Fri. from 8.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. (25 units à 45 mins per week)
- preparation for the DSH exam
- mock exams
- strategies for working with universal and academic texts
- oral communication skills and vocabulary learning
- strategies for understanding lectures and to take notes
- teaching and practicing grammar
- written communication skills
- teaching of methods for working scientifically
3. Phonetics and Conversation Classes for Participants of the DSH Course
Classes by arrangement. The phonetics and conversation classes are for participants of the DSH courses. You will be split into small groups to enable individual language assistance.
