The Department Council

In accordance with the Fakultätsordnung (Faculty Regulations) of the University of Greifswald’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities of 25 March 2014 (FO, §§ 18-22), each faculty department elects a department council.

Tasks and legal basis

Extract from the FO, §18:

"The department council is responsible for advising and making decisions on all matters of the department that do not fall within the responsibility of academics authorised to make decisions (§ 19(1) items (1) and (2)) or the Managing Director (in accordance with § 23(7)) and that affect the entire department. These include, in particular, the use of departmental resources, staff issues (calls for proposals and the deployment of staff not assigned to individual professorial staff) and issues relating to the organisation of studies. The department council receives the reports from the management of the department and can request information on matters concerning the department."
